The Last Great American Magic has won Silver in the category of Historical Fiction at the 29th annual IBPA Ben Franklin Awards. Kudos to the winner, M.L. Becker, whose novel about a Civl War nurse, Iron O’Brian, took Gold. Congrats to all the finalists!

I’m thrilled that Green Gospel has been longlisted for the inaugural Crook’s Corner Book Prize. Judges selected 12 books from 68 submissions, and I find myself among some pretty heady company, including some insanely talented writers from North Carolina. Publisher’s Weekly carried the story.

Just found out that Green Gospel was named First Runner Up in the General Fiction category of the 2012 Eric Hoffer Awards! It’s really an honor, especially given that the winner was fellow North Carolinian Val Nieman and her amazing novel, Blood Clay. Here’s the link.
