“The Trench Garden” reviewed in SLR

My short story “The Trench Garden,” published this winter by Ploughshares, has been reviewed in the Southern Literary Review.

Donna Meredith reviewed my novel, Green Gospel, back in 2011, so it was really a thrill to see her name in the byline again, reviewing “The Trench Garden.” (And she’s a helluva writer in her own right.)

With his clear prose, Fiore crafts a story that meets Poe’s primary directive: it strives for a single effect that begins with the first sentence—or in this case, the title—and leads to a satisfying conclusion.
